We did the Sumapaz Páramo hike with Gran Colombia who were able to accommodate our needs on relatively short notice. Liz was our guide and Carlos our driver; they were both terrific.
It was a very challenging hike, with the altitude going up and slippery loose rocks and narrow paths going down but it was worth it to be able to take in such an enchanting environment. Even if you have some light rain and fog like we did, the frailejones are a sight to behold! Bring warm layers (including rain gear and waterproof hiking boots) and water/snacks. Hiking poles were provided which came in handy. If you are prone to motion sickness, the roads to the páramo are quite curvy so just something to keep in mind.
While it sounds like this hike and páramo don't get quite as much attention from visitors as other attractions, if you have some time while in Bogotá and love the outdoors, contact Gran Colombia and go for it!
