We had just one day to explore Colombian nature, so we decided for a trek on Camino Real down the Chicamoca Canyon. The views were stunning and we were able to get a glimpse of the famed Colombian biodiversity. The walk itself is easy, but heat was definitely a challenge. Fortunately, at the bottom of the valley, in Jordan, we were able to chill out over a delicious lunch at the restaurant that has its own pool. Of course, this is an ideal arrangement for surviving midday heat and to relax before a strenuous climb uphill. Again, the views more than compensated our physical effort.
What made this trip ideal for us, were our guides, who were at once unobtrusive (we were a group of 9 people enjoying ourselves), accommodated our needs (an additional breakfast stop for sleeping beauties) and gave us enjoyable introduction to everything we say, patiently taking into account our ignorance about Colombian geography, fauna and flora.
Altogether, the experience was unforgettable. And it feels like we won a lottery, because we decided to go on this trip on an impulse the day before.
