This specific tour is a scam. It was confirmed multiple times, and my elderly parents flew internationally to Costa Rica just for this tour.
A few hours before it was supposed to start, the operator canceled with no explanation — after they had already landed.
We tried contacting the tour operator. They stopped responding. Completely ghosted us.
And now here’s the real problem: we booked it through Viator, which is owned by TripAdvisor.
Now here’s what you need to know about Viator / TripAdvisor:
People, be aware. This is not a joke. Never trust TripAdvisor. Never trust Viator.
Do not book any tour from them thinking they will back you up if anything goes wrong. They won’t.
They took absolutely zero responsibility for the costs we incurred — flights, hotel, taxis — nothing. Just refunded the tour fee and said:
“Sorry, we’re just a platform.”
They let third-party operators cancel after you’ve already arrived, and then pretend they have no accountability. This is how they operate.
If you want to see the proof — receipts, emails, chats, everything — contact me directly. I will show you how they treat real customers.
This tour is a scam. Viator is a scam. TripAdvisor will not protect you.
You’ve been warned.
