The farm felt like it was a world away from the touristy coast, but was really less than 20 minutes from resorts/port. I was worried my kids (13 &16) would be bored but they both enjoyed the banter with Carlos and being able to do things on the tour like pick fruit and feed the cows. In addition to the dogs, chickens (and baby chicks!), cows, and bees we saw two large iguanas and a small snake on our tour. The history and cultural aspects were also very interesting and Carlos made them fun. We also really enjoyed tasting the fruit that was in season and making/eating the delicious food.
This tour is not about polish- it was very homey, which we greatly enjoyed. I do think younger kids would be bored but for teens and all generations of adults it was very interesting. The walking was on flat but uneven ground and was a very short distance. The heat was manageable as there is plenty of shade- but bring water! I would also recommend wearing bug spray, we did not see a lot of bugs but we all came home with a few bites.
