Just a few more things I saw/experienced on this interesting trip.
- Visit to a crocodile sanctuary where we got a good up close look at gigantic wild Monitor Lizards (I thought they were Kamoto Dragons) wondering around freely. I'm guessing the sanctuary must feed them to keep them hanging around.
- Watching a man do underwater repairs on a large Ferry Boat from a small boat. I watched as a man, without facemask, entered the water with a large wrench in hand, disappear below the surface to do repairs, and then resurface when he couldn't hold his breath any longer. He would catch his breath at the surface then go back under to continue his task. Then repeat. Last I saw, he was still at it.
- Walking unescorted in shipyard among open, inground, furnace pits that were used to melt metal to cast parts for ships. As I walked I could feel the heat pour off the furnaces that were in use. I quickly became watchful of where I put my feet so as not to fall into one of these inground furnaces as there were no barriers or warnings around them.
- Watching game from a viewing tower at twilight in the Sunderbans and hearing a loud deep roar from an animal not far away. It was a tiger. We heard him a few minutes later. He was getting closer. Darkness forced use to leave so we walked back along a trail/boardwalk to our rowboat. Never saw the tiger but at that moment I understood why they made us travel with an armed ranger.
- Had the experience of dropping my fancy Nikon camera off the back of a moving rickshaw and hitting the pavement. Camera survived with only minor scratches.
Saw many of things on this trip that I'd never seen before. That made this one of my favorite vacations.
