We had a great day exploring this Peninsula area of the Dominican Republic. Ronnie picked us up at 6am from our Airbnb and we had about an hour and a half drive outside the city (nap time) before arriving at our first stop in Bani. We learned about the area and received an overview of the rest of the day. We had breakfast at a local breakfast. This was a great opportunity to ensure you're eating authentic, delicious Dominican food. We then went to the Sand Dunes! After a sweeping view of the area, we headed to the slopes. Ronnie demonstrated and give tips on how to do the standing and the sitting boards. Both were very fun! Ronnie took great pictures and videos of us. Memories for us to show family and friends at home.
We then went to see the Salt Mine. It's still operational and was interesting to learn more about. Gorgeous views.
Lastly, we walked to the beach for snorkeling! The conditions were clear and we saw beautiful fish and coral. The water was refreshing after hours in the sun. We changed back at the car before heading back to the same local restaurant for lunch. This was an action packed, unique day trip that I highly recommend! We learned a lot about the culture of the Dominican Republic from our knowledgeable guide.
For this day trip, I would recommend bringing a hat, sunglasses, a dry change of clothes and towel, and I wore a sun shirt (long sleeve, light weight) because I burn easily and we were in the exposed sun for awhile.
