Glenveagh-Nationalpark und Gaeltacht-Tour

In July 2022 we spent 3 days in the company of 'Donegal Tour Guide' Henry Doohan. We'd originally intended to hire a car for our trip but decided to give Henry a try instead. This was a very good decision as his service was faultless, and it meant that I didn't have the stress of driving in unknown parts. I'd already furnished him with a list of things we wished to see, and by the end of the time, we'd seen almost all of them, plus many more super things that Henry added during our journeys. A highlight of our trip was a visit to Leo's Tavern, the home of Clannad and Enya. This was just in time for some traditional Irish music and dancing, and some delicious Irish Coffee ! Henry is very knowledgeable about local history, and is polite, friendly, humorous, and an all-round super chap. He runs a spacious Mercedes minibus which he keeps spotlessly clean and which is ideal for viewing the countryside. Every day, Henry not only arrived on time to collect us, but, in fact, he was already there waiting prior to the collection time. Being a local, he knows all the little shortcuts that ensure that no holiday time is wasted. We highly recommend that you book your trip with Henry - the 'Donegal Tour Guide' - you won't regret it !

We just enjoyed three perfect days with Henry as our guide. He is a fabulous guide. He quickly picked up on the type of things that we liked and what we were not interested in so he adjusted each day to our specific style. He was incredibly considerate of our needs making sure we were comfortable. We loved chatting with him. He had great stories about his family and their connection to Donegal. He seemed to know everyone and we were treated like royalty everywhere we went with Henry! We visited many beautiful and interesting spots throughout Donegal but our favorite activity was driving along and stopping at magnificent views! Henry was great at finding the perfect spot and taking a great picture of us! On our last trip, my husband had driven and I navigated. Roads were so tiny, we were mentally exhausted by 2 each day. With Henry driving snd navigating, we could relax and enjoy the view! Car rentals in Ireland are outrageous especially for seniors, so Henry’s price, we thought, were very reasonable. We highly recommend Henry to all visitors. You will enjoy his expertise and his warm personality! Thank you, Henry, for helping to make our trip magical!

We enjoyed a fun and engaging day exploring northern Donegal with Henry Doohan. He took into account the sights we had already visited in the area and customized our itinerary for us. We visited Glenveagh National Park, which was especially fun with Henry as he previously worked there and is quite knowledgeable. We worked our way up the Fanad Peninsula to the lighthouse with a stop for lunch at An Stad cafe (where we indulged ourselves with delicious fresh soup, sandwiches and carrot cake right out of the oven). Without listing every stop we made, we can say that we feel as though we now have an appreciation for Donegal through the eyes and experience of a native. Henry is a gracious host to Donegal and a fun tour guide with an endearing sense of humor. He also sent us on our way with tour recommendations for the next leg of our journey that we enjoyed as well.
