Tour for Muggles

The tour is fantastic! Our tour guide, Rosie Potter was great- she was funny and informative. There were facts and information that were new to me and places that I had never thought to visit. Highly recommend this tour especially with Rosie!!

My wife suggested this tour, as we had a free morning before seeing both parts of HP & the Cursed Child later in the day and we thought the areas of London covered were interesting in their own right. First thing’s first - were we embarrassed to be two fully grown adults on a tour themed on a kids’s story? Absolutely ! … at first. Reassured initially by the fact that all of the other people on the tour were also adults, it became clear as soon as tour guide Geebs started hollering “Ten points to Ravenclaw!” at the top of her voice every 30 seconds that we were going to have to own it or else sneak off. So own it we did ! All embarrassment forgotten within 10 minutes. She might have led the tour wearing a cloak and riding on a broomstick and I don’t think the passing muggles would have paid us the slightest attention. And what a marvellous tour it was! We were lucky that the weather was fine and dry. Our guide Geebs was very knowledgeable about the Harry Potter films (it’s based on the films rather than the books) and gave quotations in rather good impressions of the actors’ voices. There was much that was new to us, including a mention of my old school as we passed it, which (I didn’t know this before the tour) was also that of Daniel Radcliffe. But beware, in the words of Mad-Eye Moody “You’ve got to be prepared!”, as she asks factual questions at every stop and awards house points for the answers. While our guide did find sometimes very tenuous links to Harry Potter at almost every building we passed, the links were interesting in their own right, e.g. the Boudicca uprising against the Romans and an 800-yr old pub. So in summary, a very enjoyable and informative way to spend 2 hours, certainly much better than the “Cursed Child” play, which was something of a disappointment. Do this walk instead, it’s a lot cheaper and better entertainment.

We had such a great time! Evie, our tour guide, was brilliant in her entertaining delivery and we learnt so many fun facts around London and how they link to the Harry Potter books and films. It was great to be able to see some of the movie locations and learn about some of the places which inspired movie sets which we would never have known existed otherwise. Have done other Harry Potter tours but would definitely recommend this one and Evie in particular!
