Claire (divemaster) and Cali (another employee of Dive Kauai who was logging extra dives) and Captain Brandon were fantastic! After a thorough, confidence inspiring safety briefing (we even knew about how the two fire extinguisher systems work and how to shut off the fuel to the engines) we went to the General Store, where we saw a white tipped shark among many other things. For our surface interval, we went to the last Kaua'i queen's house and botanical garden where Cali gave a history lesson and Claire prepared all our equipment for the second dive. We went to three fingers and after Claire jumped in and checked out the conditions, she decided we would be better off going to Sheraton Caverns! I'm really glad we did, because it was AMAZING! We swam through caverns and saw so many corals, fish, and turtles.
At first, I was a bit nervous about the size of the waves in the open ocean. It was my first time boat diving. However, Claire made me feel comfortable the entire time. She checked our air multiple times while diving, and I had zero worries. Diving in Kaua'i is certainly majestic! Getting back on the boat was super easy.
I strongly recommend Dive Kaua'i and I can't wait to go back and dive with them more. Both the shore diving and the zodiac boat diving I did with them were awesome!
