Walking thru el Mercado Belen, eating some of the local street food and sampling locally brewed licor-to include a licor made with the Suri grub, was awesome. The ensuing boat ride on the Itaya River to see the floating houses and houses on stilts was also memorable. The CREA rescue park ran a bit too long as the employees really really went down on the weeds (pun intended) when discussing Ayahuasca and other “magical” plants which is great if you’re into that, however it left no time to visit the last stop for a swim in the river (hence my giving 4 of 5 stars). My guide, Johnny B. Good, was great! He’s well known to the locals and loves what he does and it shows through out the length of the tour. His English is great for those who do not speak Spanish. Do bring a parka in case of rain, towels if you swimming, and the usual: bug repellent, sunglasses, hat, sturdy shoes, shorts are fine.
