Even though it was the off season (mid November), I really enjoyed this day trip.
It was an engaging history lesson from the guide without feeling overloaded with facts. The landscapes are just stunning, so even if you never leave the coach bus, you could still enjoy the trip. I opted for the hike at Diamond Hill whilst others went to Kylemore Abbey. The Conemmara national park is incredible and I definitely want to go back and experience it in warmer months. The views from the hike were spectacular and it was challenging enough to feel like I got a good bout of hiking in.
As far as food, it’s best to bring your own- I brought sandwiches, snacks and water from Marks & Spencer’s in Galway City because a lot of places were closed. I definitely recommend bringing your own stuff. There was a coffee/pub stop in the town of Leenane which was charming.
Shane was an amazing guide - really fun and knowledgeable.
I left feeling full of nature and much more educated on the region of Galway and Ireland in general.
I would 10/10 recommend this trip
