The administration of the London zoo is appalling. They say they are under pressure due to Covid-19 but their FAQs are totally inadequate. Trying to telephone for information is virtually impracticable. I am a Gold member but was told the call would be answered "within an hour".
I was seeking basic information on the indoor play area at Whipsnade for my grandchildren. Having learned that this could only be booked 24 hours in advance - but no indication of when booking for the following day opened - I started trying to book online from about 8.30am. The first anomaly was that the screen invited me to choose a date; why when you can only book for the next day? Not surprisingly, there was no calendar provided. And to make matters worse, the screen said it was fully booked for the day. So had booking not yet opened for the following day? Had the zoo accepted a block booking that meant attempts to book were futile?|
I have encouraged my family to join and paid the very high cost of several memberships. The 2 zoos (Whipsnade and London) are not in my opinion as good as Chester or my childhood memory of Edinburgh. However, they are our local zoos and for the capital city should be providing at the very least better administration than they do.
