We went here to see the Schiele collection, but were so pleased to see SO MUCH MORE. This museum really puts together the emergence of modernism at the turn of the 20th Century--politics, religion (anti-Semitism as well as Zionism), psychology (Freud), and of course art. And not just fine art...also practical arts, like furniture! jewelry! In a way, you can really understand how these groundbreaking thinkers and movers and shakers scared the hell out of conventional society (hence, Nazis...and you can also understand why Hitler never made it as an artist in Vienna). So many excellent displays. The gift shop is quite lovely, and the café also excellent. Definitely carve out a lot of time (we are usually efficient and quick museum goers but were there for several hours). They have an audio guide, but we did not use it (I read faster than I listen). (Note, closed on Tuesdays).
