Cristian was a great guide and allowed us (just 4 in total) to stop and get street food etc. His information about the history of police, paramilitary, gang and leftist fighting over the decades in Comuna 13 was disturbing and eye opening.
Unfortunately it was a public holiday when I went on the tour and I found it very crowded and the loyd music was a but overwhelming. It’s hard to walk through a party atmosphere when you’re thinking about the victims’ families who are still fighting for justice.
Fascinating that he told us the area is controlled by a gang ( we hardly saw any police) but that we don’t need to worry about being robbed because they welcome tourists here as a way to have a better future for their kids.
I wish we could have seen more street art but it was very crowded. You can go there by yourself on quieter days.
