We'd already had an excursion to the whales and stingrays, but this tour gave us even more. First, there was the dolphins, then we saw more whales. After were taken to a coral reef that was spectacular, and on top of it, there were black tipped sharks swimming with us. Just when I didn't think the day could get any better, we swam near the sea turtles. Friendly, fun, and a truly amazing day.

We are a retired couple, and I can't swim. But we booked this tour because we how amazing it was to swim with rays and I wanted to see it. We were lucky in that this was not a cruise associated tour. There were 9 passengers, 3 crew who were terrific swimmers and gorgeous too, and an awesome marine photographer who may even be a better swimmer than the guys - so we felt in safe hands. We stayed in the boat with Maui while the others swam with a mother and calf whale (which apparently was an amazing experience). They did this just with snorkelling gear about 5 meters from the whales for about one hour and the boat had to be about 100 meters away from the whales due to regulations - so be aware you need to be a very fit and good swimmer to swim with the whales. We then went to a lagoon for the most amazing experience. I was encouraged to get in and the crew and fellow passengers gave me a hand. There were about 30 sting rays. They seemed very curious. They have big brown eyes and would brush up against you with their wings (that feel like velvet though the center part of their body is quite hard. I was worried they might sting but we were told they only sting if they are hurt and angry. I can't swim so was worried I might step on their long tails - but they weren't bothers. A number of reef sharks about a meter long were watching us from about 7 meters away. We were told not to approach them, and they would not do anything but watch us. Besides the rays and sharks there were heaps of black jack fish with electric blue accents, and yellow angel fish like fish made quite a contrast and made for a pretty busy underwater show. Afterwards we saw turtles. We were late joining the trip because we came over on the ferry from Tahiti and assumed 9am was the time we had to be there. Tip - that's when the boat leaves. So you need to check beforehand when you need to take the ferry to be there on time, if you are coming over from Tahiti. We caught up with the tour but it was a 3000cfp cost to do so. It was a truly wonderful day. The crew and our fellow passengers were marvellous. I would highly recommend this tour.

Kelsey captured photos we could never hope to get on the Corallina Tour. It's one thing to have such a highly skilled team getting us to the locations and providing the confidence and assisting the swimmers, but quite another to have great photos to show the folks back home.
