Truly an experience! We had a private VIP tour with just Mui, our tour guide, and Tien, our driver. Mui and Tien were like the uncles I always wanted in my life. We started off the tour learning about Mahayana Buddhism and what the three bows represented in a prayer (To Buddha, Dharma (Lady Buddha) for happiness, and to community). After the temple, we drove to the Weasel Coffee Farm but made a pitstop to the succulent nursery. What we thought the coffee farm would be the highlight of the tour ended up being one of many more highlights.
Our next stop was Thien An Cricket Farm where we saw the crickets and silk worms. We tried fried crickets cooked in oil and lemongrass with a side of rice wine. What I will never from this experience was when I introduced Mui and the lovely people at Thien An a Vietnamese song, "tơ tằm" by Nhu Quynh. We sang several Vietnamese songs together and it made so warm to know I could reconnect with my roots.
We continued the silk worm tour when we made a stop at Namban Silk where we got to see how the cocoon of the silk worms were processed in the factory. Workers could only be in the factory at a max of 4 hours due to how hot it was in the factory.
The rest of tour included Elephant Waterfalls, Linh An Pagoda, and visiting a local family in the outskirts. The local family are part of the K'ho ethnic as we noticed the happiness of their lives living in simplicity and harmony.
What a day and what an experience it was, I truly enjoyed the tour and highly recommend Mui and Tien!
