What an amazing experience, This was an absolute trip of a lifetime, and it did not disappoint.
After waiting 3 long years due to covid, our trip finally happened. Watching so many vids and reading all the different experiences that others have had in the past on the same trip was nothing in comparison to what I actually experienced. The grand scale of the Himilayas was mind-blowing. Every day offered better sightseeing than the previous day, and I was always excited to wake up and see what the new day would bring. The food which I thought was going to be quite bland and limited was actually surprisingly good. The people in general wall very friendly. There was not one local who would not repond with a "Namaste" along with a smile. It actually puts a smile on my face now while writing this review.
I found the trip to quite difficult physically and mentally, but getting use to the cold conditions was the worst, but that's what life experiences are about, right?
We were so lucky to have such an amazing head guide in Rajendra Khatry (Raj) from Ace The Himalaya. His knowledge in all things Nepalese, along with every single mountain, track, local knowledge, etc, was nothing but amazing. Raj, along with his leading hand, Shier, made us feel extremley comftable, nothing was too hard for them. They would make sure we were always feeling ok, always had plenty of water, always fed, sooooo many teas coffees and hot chocolates. They would always clean up after us and prepare everything for the next day. Raj would always brief us on what the next day would entail to the finest detail. How far we would walk, what we would see along the way, elevation change, and it just went on and on. When you are spending 14 days and nights with a guide, you hope to build a connection with them, and Raj and Shier Aced it.
If anyone who is reading this is considering doing this trek, the answer is YES!
Our trip was arranged by Getaway Trekking in Australia, and Deb, who brought this all together, was fantastic in all of her efforts. for 3 years, she was always updating us and liasing with us on progress for our trip. There were so many emails at different times to keep us up to date and motivated for what was to come. Even arranging monthly treks to get our fitness up and ready, so thankyou Deb, for all your hard work.
Mike from Getaway Trekking accompied us on our trek also. Without Mike, im sure things would not have run as smooth as they did. Mike was very calm in any situation and just made everyone feel comftable.
I was so lucky to have suck an experienced team in Getaway Trekking along with Ace The Himilaya to complete this once in a lifetime experience for me.
Thankyou, Thankyou, Thankyou!!!
