We're a retired couple who have travelled to 76 countries in the world and have enjoyed dozens of walking tours. Unfortunately, this was the worst one ever.
The guide was named Bobby. He's an obese middle-aged history buff who doesn't seem to enjoy walking but certainly likes hearing himself talk. Bobby tries to be too cute and thinks swearing will add emphasis to what he's saying.
We began the tour by merely walking across the street from the meeting place where Bobby gave us a 25 minute lecture, beginning with his rules. One was not to pee on another person. Perhaps twenty-year-olds would appreciate his lame attempts at humour.
During the whole 90 minute tour, we walked for 10 minutes max, along 3 or 4 uninteresting streets, while listening to Bobby's history lectures for the rest of the time. He spent less than 10 minutes of the entire tour telling us about anything we were actually looking at (eg. creole cottages). Instead, we were given story after story about New Orleans in the 1700s and 1800s and about the founder of the Voodo religion. The only reason we needed to walk anywhere was so Bobby could find a new shaded area to give another 20 minute lecture. Boring!
