Whitney Plantation und Airboat-Tour ab New Orleans

I did the Whitney Plantation Tour plus the Airboat Swamp Tour with Crescent City Tours, and while I won’t go too deep into wether you should pick between Whitney and Oak Alley (that’s a personal decision), I will say that having visited both, I found Whitney to be the more raw and honest portrayal of plantation life. But this review is really about the tour company—and more specifically, about Brian, our bus driver and guide. Brian exudes true Southern hospitality, the kind that makes you feel instantly at ease. His warmth is infectious, and his storytelling skills are unmatched. The hour-long drive to the plantation flew by as he shared fascinating history, and he even joked that “real tour guides don’t need a radio to fill the silence.” Let me assure you: Brian does NOT need a radio. Just so that you are aware, unless you pick a private tour option, you will be picking up other people along the way at their hotels as well. It’s really not a big deal though because the French Quarter is so close together, that it’s no more than a two minute drive to the next stop. Also, while I personally love a self guided tour because I’m able to go at my own pace, in case you don’t, just know that once you get to the Whitney plantation, it is a self-guided audio tour. No matter what your plans are in New Orleans, make sure they include a tour with Brian at Crescent City Tours. You won’t regret it!

We had a great day visiting the Whitney Plantation and doing the Swamp Tpur through Ragin' Cajun. Brian was a tour guide and did a great job driving us safely through a heavy thunderstorm. There was heavy rain at the plantation but it was still a very powerful experience. Dylan was our airboat caption. We had a very close encounter with Scarface. It was a fabulous experience.

Tour war fantastisch - - sehr zu empfehlen! Ehemann und ich wurden gegen 8 abgeholt: 20 in einem großen grauen Van von Brian, der ein absoluter Krawall war. Er erzählte Geschichten, Witze und teilte Informationen über New Orleans einzigartige Geschichte und Infrastruktur, als er uns zur Plantage fuhr. Wir lernten die neuen und verbesserten Deiche und einige interessante Sehenswürdigkeiten auf dem Weg kennen. Wir hatten etwa zwei Stunden in Whitney, um die Audiotour zu machen und das Gelände zu erkunden. Die Plantage konzentriert sich auf das Leben derjenigen, die versklavt wurden, und es ist sehr gut gemacht. Brian holte uns ab und zeigte uns Drehorte auf dem Weg zur Oak Alley, wo wir für ein kurzes halbes Stunden Mittagessen und einen Blick auf das berühmte Haus anhielten. Er setzte uns dann bei Ragin' Cajun Swamp Tours ab, wo wir und andere Reisegruppen verschiedenen Luftbooten zugewiesen wurden. Trotz der Kälte fand unser Guide einige Alligatoren. Als erfahrener Alligatorjäger selbst erzählte er uns alles über das Verhalten der Alligatoren, die Jagdlotterie, die Namen und Geschichten hinter bestimmten Alligatoren, die wir gesehen haben, warum er sie nicht füttert, wenn es kalt ist, die Geschichte des spanischen Mooses (interessanter als Sie vielleicht denken! ) und beantwortete die vielen Fragen unserer Gruppe. Die Bootsfahrt war schnell und reibungslos - - viel Spaß! Von dort holte Brian uns wieder ab und teilte weiterhin sein Wissen und seine Liebe zu New Orleans, seiner Kultur und seinen Bewohnern bis hin zu unserer Hotelübergabe. Es war eine tolle Art, einen Tag zu verbringen!
