I rented a house on Vrbo for my family to visit our son at college in Charlotte, NC.
Oakhurst Cottage #3 Close to Uptown Charlotte (3/20/24-3/23/24). I did message the owner a couple of times after paying the rental to confirm what was in the house, coffee pot, BBQ, time of arrival, etc. All was good and she was sending me the code to the house the day before our trip. I sent a message to her on 3/19 and she replied that there was a computer glitch and the house should have never been rented. I was in shock, we were leaving for the airport in hours and would have no place to stay when we landed. After I shared my utter shock and anger she said we could stay on 3/20 but then would have to leave because it was double booked and a rental was starting on 3/21. First, she tells me it was a computer glitch and then states it was double booked. Either way, she was disingenuous and indifferent! My family was left with no place to stay and I had to book 3 hotel rooms to accommodate our family. It was extremely stressful and expensive! She should have sent me a message in a timely mater so I could make other arrangements, but apparently there are no guidelines for owners. I found out that you can't even leave a review if you were canceled on Vrbo because you never stayed at the property. So this owner at Oakhurst Cottage #3 can continue to cancel guests whenever she feels like it, how is this fair? How is Vrbo protecting guests after they have paid to secure their rental? Today is 4/2/2024 and I still haven't received my refund. I will never again rent from Vrbo or the owner of Oakhurst Cottage #3 in Uptown Charlotte, NC. Please be aware of this property on all house rental platforms!!
