6 Tage Regenbogen Berg x Ausangate Trek - FlashpackerConnect

This is a tough review to write but here we go. We met up with our incredible guide Mijail(aka Miguel) in our hotel and my wife and I had an instant connection with him. He explained everything in depth and ensured that we were as ready as we could be. Day 1 of the trek both my wife and I were experiencing altitude sickness, we had been in Cusco for 2 days prior. *** Do yourselves a favour and arrive way earlier to acclimatise*** Thought we would be ok with 2 days to get acclimated but nope! We pushed through though and made the first days hike, what a beautiful and special place. In tow,(then passing us) was our incredible chef, Cristobal, and horseman, Valentine. On the way we stopped to soak up the Ausangate views which is awe inspiring. As we were lost in the view our legend of a guide Mijail started playing a traditional flute which sunk us into the moment even further. We then arrived to the camp site to find cute bungalows with our bags and beds made and lunch being cooked!!! To good to be true. The views are breathtaking and right out your front door. When then relaxed and waited for dinner which was amazing. We went to bed that night and this is where it all went pear shaped, my wife started having heart problems and I wasn’t in the best of shape either. The altitude was testing us. We had to wake up Mijail and let him know what was happening. He gave us some advise and continued to check on us multiple times throughout the night. It was -10c so thank you Mijail for getting out of your warmth to see how we were going. The next day things still hadn’t gotten better so we made the decision to evacuate for safety. The right call! Now the company and Mijail came up with a plan so we still enjoyed our time in Peru and even allowed us to use credit from the trip to help subsidise the Inca trail to Machu Picchu and we still got to go to Rainbow Mountain. Great company who only hire the best people and everything is catered for from start to finish. We will be back to finish this trek now we understand how to prepare for it. This company is absolutely amazing. This was my second trip with them. Everyone is so personal and generous. The Peruvian landscape is like non other. I’m absolutely in love with the culture, food and the people. Highly recommend this company.

Can't say enough good things about Flashpacker Connect and their amazing guides and employees! From answering my endless questions before we left home, to our native guide Will and his bountiful knowledge of the area and its customs, we were in excellent hands. Our chefs, Sergio and Juan, provided us with incredible meals - all cooked on propane stoves. The scenery was gorgeous and we lucked out with the weather, hiking in the morning sunshine and resting in the afternoon rains. Will was an excellent guide, helping me with my altitude sickness and full of encouragement. His paparazzi skills are above par - as is his English. The staff went above and beyond to make our trip a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Flashpacker Connect is the way to go!
