The most professional and well organised expedition I have been on. Saul and Alex are excellent guides, extremely knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. German the chef and his team prepared excellent meals and drinks, better than some restaurants we've been to in S America. Fausto and his porter team are superhuman superheros carrying everything with a smile. The classic Inca Trail is as much archaeology, botany and ethnographic tour as a hike. The hike is world class and Machu Picchu is incredible. Thanks everyone at Alpaca.

Last November, my boyfriend and I completed the Inca Trail with Alpaca Expeditions. We could not ask for more experienced, kind, informative, and patient guides than Flecher and Aldair! I struggled on the trail, but Flecher and Aldair were incredibly supportive, and I could not have completed it without their good humor and attentiveness. I was very apprehensive about this hike due to the high altitude and steep inclines and descents. Yet, the constant support and encouragement of the Alpaca Expeditions team and the guide Lizandro Huaman made this a very memorable experience. The team went to great lengths to ensure the comfort and safety of its hikers. They provided delicious, nutritious freshly cooked meals even at that high altitude with the assistance of porters and chefs who helped carry supplies from the base. They even catered to vegetarian and vegan diets without changing food quality. Guide Lizandro, was always attentive to hikers’ discomfort during hiking. He paid attention and motivated the slow hikers while still keeping the fast ones energized for the next lap of the hike. When at times, I couldn’t keep up with the team, he came back to check up on me and to ensure I was safe and able to complete that section. If you have decided to hike the Inca Trail to Machu Pichu please familiarize yourself with the altitude and terrain and ensure that your fitness levels match its requirements.
