This is an early start, but in my opinion, well worth it!
There is a bit of travel involved to get there, but you will eventually get the reward! The Rainbow Mountain is breathtaking. We arrived rather early in the morning and my wife smartlygot a horse up to the top. I trudged along behind and you really feel it, as the top is over 5,200 metres high! The walk is around 18km in total, however, the view at the top is scintillating!! Amazing colours and scenes and I have no doubt this will be one of the major tourist attractions shortly.
If you feel tired, get a horse. Most others get them and they are only 40-45 US up there.
Whilst the Rainbow mountain and scenery were amazing, we found our guide to be a bit lethargic and disinterested during the day, and the lunch is really a non-event trust me, its the opposite of gourmet! We had ours at around 3pm, which was a shame as we had bee up since 2am for the trip.
If you get a guide who loves their job and the mountain, then this would be a 5 out of 5 trip! The scenery is breathtaking and the view amazing. Just a bit of elaboration on the Viator site from the supplier about what to expect outside of this! Otherwise, good luck..the climb is most definitely worth it and its easier on the way down!!!!
PS - for those who worry, all suppliers and guides take oxygen just in case. Otherwise, if you aren't energetic on the morning, get the horse. My wife was so happy to get one and she stated she wouldn't have made it if she didn't get one.
