I can't say enough about how much I enjoyed this tour!
We were picked up in Placencia by the owner, Percy, who drove us all the way to the town near the cave in record time! Very nice guy and he gave us some awesome information about the flora and fauna along the way! We were handed off to Jam Jam (Jamir) for the rest of the drive to the start of the trail, as his vehicle could handle the road in! We hiked in with him from there! He was an awesome guide! Nice, funny, and so informative! It was so worth the extra money to have a private tour! Jam Jam told us about every step up, or down, in the water (and out) so we didn't get tripped up, or hurt! He knew short cuts in the cave, so we could bypass other groups in the cave, but made sure we didn't miss out on anything! We even got a little extra treatment, taken through some narrow gaps off to the side of the way we came in and everyone else traveled, and even one little slide down and through! That made me pause, small gap and trusting the water flow, but it was worth it! Aside from the awesome treatment and all the great stories, info, and jokes... (the guide you have is really the cherry on top btw), the cave itself was AMAZING! So many natural wonders, artifacts, and bones! You will swim, wade, squeeze just a little a couple times, and even climb! The last part is walked in socks, to protect the cave. Do NOT miss this tour! ♡ You will end this awesome adventure with a meal at the trailhead. Jam Jam brought fresh chicken, rice/beans, and the most amazing tortillas, from a local gal in town!
You will have to relive this in memories, as phones and cameras are not allowed on the trail or in the cave... you will understand when your see the damage people have done to the pottery and worst of all, the skulls! It's sad to not have photos, but just think, aside from photos that already exist, anybody else that wants to see, will have to go themselves to enjoy what you have!
