My wife and I were very unfit but our lovely guide, Yus, was very patient and encouraging. Let us take all the time we need to slowly go up. Loved the afternoon trek, no crowds.

Our guide was Komang. Drivers were Idra and Mang Raka. They were friendly and accommodating. Assisted with the descent, stopped when we needed a break, took our photo etc. Notes / Tips: Morning vs afternoon -The morning is generally very busy and crowded, the sunset is generally quiet. The view may be better in the morning as there tends to be less clouds, our sunset was great but yours may not be 100%. The sunrise hike might be better for those with joint issues, vision impairment etc. since the descent at night is very slippery. - It gets cold at the top, I would recommend long pants, a jumper / windbreaker for the summit. - There are a few monkeys hanging around one of the peaks, unsure if friendly. - A little bit of food is provided but I would bring a few snacks anyway. - If you are not fit, have children, have joint issues etc let them know and consider starting earlier to give yourself extra time. - The ground is very loose for the majority of the hike, this means you tend to slide back a little when going uphill and on the downhill you will slip. Wear hiking boots if you have them. - Make sure to confirm your drop off location with the driver when you get into the car. There was some mix up with our drop off and we went in the wrong direction for a while.

This was the best thing we did in Bali. Wira is the BEST guide ever! He is so kind and lovely and knew so much about Mt. Batur. He is also an amazing photographer and took some incredible shots of us. It was such an honour meeting him and hiking with him and I would completely recommend this to anyone! He took us on a route different to the ones that most tours take so it was much less crowded and quicker. Thank you so much Wira for an unforgettable experimence ???? If you’d like a tour with stunning views, and incredible and knowledgeable guide, and exponentially less tourists, this is the one to do.
