We went on the snorkeling trip and the trip itself was fun. The staff was kind and the captain kept us laughing. However what’s sad is how dead most of the reef is due to the amount of people being let over there wearing sunscreen that’s killing the coral. They state in their instructions to wear coral safe sunscreen but don’t enforce it at all. Every person I saw was using normal sunscreen and they never checked or stopped anyone. Even some of the ones that say “coral safe” aren’t. You can use the app “Yuka” to check if it’s safe. The sunscreen I HIGHLY recommend especially if you’re going to be around coral is “Stream2Sea” it’s a mineral based sunscreen so it has to be spread on in small dots. It is on the pricey side, but it’s worth it when you realize the damage people are doing to our oceans. Not to mention it’s healthier for our own bodies as well. I learned about this through my best friend who’s a marine biologist doing coral restoration in Hawaii. We need to do better, especially company’s like this that take groups out there nonstop. If you’re going to go on this excursion, PLEASE do your part by wearing the correct sunscreen.
