We just finished our first holiday in Vietnam and we have to thank Ginkgo Tours for accommodating our request to have some extra days interspersed with the planned 10 days of touring, which have been very interesting and intense.
Our favourite attractions have been Mekong Delta, Hoi An, River cruise and Pagoda from Hue, Halong Bay cruise.
We appreciated the visits to the historical attractions, and thanks to the very knowledgeable guides we feel that we have a better understanding of Vietnam’s history and culture.
The tour guides spoke good to very good English, and have always been friendly and helpful. The small group visits have been either just the 2 of us, or up to 4 people, which was just brilliant.
Vietnamese food is generally delicious and healthy, the breakfasts in all the hotels included Western and Asian options, all available as a fresh buffet.
When we had lunch with the tour it was often a set menu that exceeded our appetite, and we thought that a Ban Mi (sandwich/baguette) or a Pho (Vietnamese noodle soup) would have been plenty enough.
The hotels booked for our tour where different in style but satisfactory for the 4 stars option we requested, and we have to thank Ginkgo’s efficient customer service for being helpful with an unexpected problem.
As a constructive criticism, we would suggest to reconsider the cycling tour in Hanoi (cycle-rickshaw) because of the amount of fumes of the heavy traffic you are exposed to. I wish I had bought a face mask before that, or actually even just skip the ride all together. People should be warned and offered to buy a mask if they want to do it.
Travelling back to the UK tonight, feeling very happy and inspired by this holiday, we will definitely recommend Ginkgo as an alternative to the big tour operators of our country.
