The trip to Manuel Antonio National Park starts early and ends at a comfortable time, though it is a long journey from San José. However, there are plenty of stops along the way to make it more manageable. Our guide, Augustine, was fantastic—he gave us space to enjoy the ride quietly but was also attentive and willing to answer any questions we had. He’s incredibly skilled at spotting hummingbirds, and it was wonderful hearing about his experiences.
At the park, you get approximately three hours, with about 1.5 hours to relax at the beach and one hour for the trail, followed by lunch. Both breakfast and lunch were very good. However, keep in mind that the trip is lengthy due to the distance from San José, so it may not be ideal if you’re uncomfortable with extended travel.
