Tikal Go provided a great service on our first visit to Guatemala. Luis/David were great drivers and Noel a superb guide. After crossing the border (USD20pp exit fees from Belize not included in the tour), the first stop was for lunch, where the restaurant was able to cater for people with food allergies (coeliac disease). Then on to Yaxha, a less-well known Mayan city which has been partially relcaimed from the forest. After sunset sitting on top of a temple, they drove us safely nearly two hours to Jungle Lodge (cows and dogs on the road) at Tikal for an early night (stopped off at a convenience store along the way for a snack dinner). Up at 3.30am for a 4am departure (ask the guide to organise the breakfast in a bag to take with you) to see sunrise atop Temple IV in Tikal (horizon clouds delayed seeing the sun until 30 minutes after dawn). Noel offered plenty of insights into Mayan history, Spanish colonisation, and more recent events such as the Guatemalan civil war in fluent English. Temple III was probably the favourite as it gave a great opportunity to see many birds (including toucans and vultures) at canopy level. After lunch, they drove safely back to San Ignacio (no exit/entrance fee at the border). Overall, I would highly recommend Tikal Go as a tour company to use for visiting Guatemala (self-touring by taking a rental car across the border would not have been easy) and would happily use them again.
