We were met by our tour operator at the top of the cable car in Fira at 9am. We were only in Santorini for the day and booked our tour the day before.
There aren’t that many tours geared towards children, so we didn’t hang around to book this one!
Evans was our guide for 6 hours and he planned our time in Santorini so that the kids didn’t get bored and we didn’t hang around in one place for too long.
Our first stop was the highest point in Santorini which gave us fantastic views of the island.
Evans drove us around in a very nice Mercedes people carrier which was air conditioned and there was always a cold bottle of water available.
We stopped off in the original capital of Santorini (I can’t remember the name) and had some yoghurt, honey and granola before we explored the beautiful town and talked about Greek Mythology. Both of the children love a bit of Greek Mythology so there was a lot of chat about various Gods and Goddesses as we meandered through the little white streets.
To continue the Greek Mythology theme, we then visited The Lost City of Atlantis Museum for about an hour. It’s very interactive and there’s a fun 9D cinematic experience which tells the story of your the city was lost.
We explored a local black sandy beach and looked at the luna looking rock face and then went to the Tomato Museum.
This is a self guided tour where you have a handheld device that takes you around the museum. It’s not very long and at the end, you get to try some tomato juice and paste, the children enjoyed sampling this at the end.
With hungry bellies, we asked Evans to take us to somewhere nice for lunch. We are at restaurant 41 which was by the beach. We had a fantastic lunch before we headed back to Fira.
This was a fantastic tour, perfect for the children and the time that we had in Santorini.
Evans was excellent and always there to take a picture and to tell us about the island.
