6-tägige Tour zu den äußeren Hebriden und der Isle of Skye ab Edinburgh

We joined the 10 day Orkney & the Outer Hebrides tour with Rabbie’s and wanted to wholeheartedly recommend this intense and somewhat different trip. We are a family of 5 (a couple with 2 kids and a grandmother) used to traveling on our own, with a rented car and freedom to do whatever we want. Our dream was to travel in the northern parts of Scotland and when we started planning the trip we realized that the difficult driving (driving on the left and very narrow roads) and the challenging weather conditions might be too much of a stress. We decided to explore a different way to discover these parts of the world and got recommendations on Rabbie’s. Traveling with people we don’t know, in one big car, a guide, a set itinerary? very different from what we are used to. But we decided to do it anyway. And we are here to give back a recommendation for others who want to travel with Rabbie’s. The tour we picked is based on 2 separate Rabbie’s tours, and so we were lucky to be joined by 2 different guides. Ian, the man and the kilt, with his vast knowledge of Scottish history and heritage and such love to the special landscape, nature and ancient history of the people that have roamed these lands before us that at times we could feel we are in the middle of a clan fight ready to go to battle; and Doug, who built his part of the tour as a full story, and being both a gifted storyteller and a wonderful DJ, weaved ancient and contemporary Scottish life, music, text and humor to whatever we saw around us. Both - patient, cool and amazing drivers - gave us a varied, beautiful and full journey of this enchanted gorgeous part of the wonderful country of Scotland. There is something for everyone in this tour and the ability to “sit back and relax” was strange at first but very rewarding at the end. Thank you!

The perfect time to go as it is the end of the tourist season and there are less people. (The weather was also fantastic.) Our tour guide Iain was brilliant. He had loads of history knowledge and funny stories. He also knew the area well so he had loads of options of things to see if what we had planned was closed. Each of the accomodations were lovely, and each day was full of beautiful places to see and great places to eat. Loads of cute villages to have a "wee nosey".

Schottlands wilde und wunderschöne Landschaft wurde uns von unserem außergewöhnlichen Guide Mackenzie Dalrymple vorgestellt. Macs Respekt für die Umwelt und seine Liebe zum Land war jedes Mal offensichtlich, wenn wir unseren Van verließen und ihm auf ein Abenteuer zu einem großartigen Aussichtspunkt folgten. Er kannte jeden Felsen, jeden Sturz und jeden Pfad, als wären sie alte Freunde. Mac beeindruckte uns mit der detaillierten Geschichte der schottischen Highlands und unterhielt uns täglich mit seiner unglaublichen Gabe des Geschichtenerzählens. Ein zusätzlicher Leckerbissen war die feine Auswahl an Musik, die Mac spielte, wenn wir fuhren; Ich habe eine CD der alten, schottischen Folk-Meister The Corries gekauft, und sie wird zu einem meiner Favoriten. Die Gasthäuser, die Rabbies für uns auswählte, waren urig und charmant, mit einladenden Gastgebern und einem köstlichen Frühstück. Wer hätte gedacht, dass Whisky-Porridge so lecker sein würde?
