I was visiting on a Tuesday in winter and was the only person booked onto this tour, but it went ahead anyway which was very kind of the owner Jan. He collected me at my hotel on time. He usually uses a mini bus but as it was just me, we went in an electric car - much more sustainable.
We visited four wineries and a gin distillery. We also stopped off to look at a few beauty spots along the way, as well as surprise visit to a Gravelly beach and a great little place that specialised in decorative iron work for the garden. It was the first time Jan had seen the place too, so it was a surprise to both of us. And I have an iron owl figurine to help me remember my time in Tasmania when I go back to the UK.
The Cellar Doors/Vineyards were all small family run ventures offering an excellent selection of wine. As a red/Shiraz lover I surprised myself by liking a Moscato best of the day at Holm Oak. Our penultimate stop was for lunch at Moores Hill - a tasty platter of cheeses, ham, salami, chutney and crackers - my favourite type of food.
I had a great day discovering the wines Tasmania has to offer. Jan is also a wine maker and very knowledgeable about making and tasting wine so not only did I have a lovely day but I learnt more information about wine too. I would recommend this tour to anyone visiting Launceston who is looking for a great day touring the region.
