We spent 3 days and 4 nights in Amman and visited Petra, Jerash and the dead sea from there as well as the Amman citadel. All day trips.
Jordan is a very scenic country with mountains, valleys and the dessert. There are lots of historical sites to visit and the UNESCO heritage site of Petra is a must see. It can get very cold in winter though and rainy so keep a waterproof jacket or umbrella with you.
The best part of our trip was our driver Ziad. He was with us from start to finish that is from the time we landed at the airport in Amman to the time he dropped us back there. He was extremely polite, respectful helpful and caring since we were two ladies traveling on our own. His car was new and spick and span. He had mineral water bottles ready for us each day and stopped at good restrooms when we needed them.
He was knowledgeable and gave us lots of information about the places we were at or passing through. His English was very good. He arranged for English speaking guides for us at each spot we visited. He himself was like a guide and friend to us.
He even took us to a magnetic hill on the way to Mt. Nebo, where the car rolled back uphill in neutral which was quite fascinating.
I give Ziad and Atlas tours a glowing recommendation. Thanks to them we returned with happy memories of Jordan and a good impression of the country and its people.
