This is once in a lifetime experience….. it is totally worth such long trip to see the dunes at Merzouga. We learn a lot about Morocco’s history and culture along the way thanks to our tour guide Abdo, he dedicated enough time to describe each visited site, not too long, not too short. He accommodated according to our needs, for example when we decline to ride carts in the desert he surprised us by taking us to visit the Toureg’s shire. Now, to be totally transparent, the car is a minivan and the seats cannot recline; the tent in the camp is designed to last strong winds, meaning small windows so air do not circulate…. June was 37+ so even when the temperature drops the tent feel like an oven (in another season is not a problem). There are hotels, but tents feel like the way to really enjoy the desert. Still, super recommended experience, the sand dunes and the view of the stars at night are priceless . And last, lunch was good and at reasonable price, included dinners and breakfast also were great, good mix of authentic morroccan and international food.
