Mahdia is a city of several architectural masterpieces thanks to its rich past. There is the fortified gate of Skifa Kahla, the old port, the large Bordj El Kébir and the Mahdia museum. It is also known for its magnificent white sand beaches and historical monuments such as the Grand Mosque, the ancient ramparts, the marine cemetery and even the El Jem amphitheater.

Skifa El Kahla, Mahdia, Tunisia Skifa El Kahla is a huge gate dating originally to the tenth century. It is still one of the access points to the historic center of the city of Mahdia and one of the rare remains of the old city walls, located in the center of the old citadel. The Skifa is part of the system of ramparts rebuilt by the Turks at the end of the 16th century. Fort Ottoman Borj El Kebir, Mahdia, Tunisia This Borj, also known as a Kasbah, is a fortress that was erected at the end of the 16th century on the site of an ancient Fatimid palace and is considered to be one of the finest examples of Ottoman military architecture.
Founded on a quadrangular plan and later endowed with bastions of angles, the building is surrounded by a powerful wall originally pierced with a single entrance (after its reassignment for prison use, another access was there Built in the 19th century). Großartiges Erlebnis! Wir hatten eine wunderbare Tour durch die Medina von Tunis. Ghassen hat uns viele besondere Orte auch abseits der touristischen Hotspots gezeigt, war äußerst kompetent, hat uns jederzeit sicher durch die engen Gassen gelotst und hat sich viel Zeit genommen, auf unsere Fragen und Interessen einzugehen. Eine wirklich besondere Tour mit bleibendem Eindruck. Absolut zu empfehlen.
