    Flora and Fauna: Wildlife The area contains over 25,000 large animals including 26 black rhinoceros. There are 7,000 wildebeests, 4,000 zebras, 3,000 eland and 3,000 Grant's and Thomson's gazelles. The crater also has the densest known population of lions, numbering 62. Higher up, in the rainforests of the crater rim, are leopards, about 30 large elephants, mountain reedbuck, and more than 4,000 buffalos, spotted hyenas, jackals, rare wild dogs, cheetahs, and other felines. The legendary annual wildebeest and zebra migration also passes through Ngorongoro, when the 1.7 million ungulates move south into the area in December then move out heading north in June. The migrants passing through the plains of the reserve include 1.7 million wildebeest, 260,000 zebra, and 470,000 gazelles. The Lake Ndutu area to the west has significant cheetah and lion populations. Over 500 species of birds have been recorded within the NCA. These include ostrich, white pelican, and greater and lesser flamingo on Lake Magadi within the crater, Lake Ndutu, and in the Empakaai Crater Lake, where a vast bird population can be observed. Flora and Fauna: Vegetation cover Ngorongoro is home to lush green, rain-watered vegetation, as well as desert plants. The area has uncultivated lowland vegetation, arid and semi-arid plant communities, abundant short grass used for grazing, and highland forests. Scrub heath, grasslands, high open moorland, and the remains of dense evergreen forests cover the steep slopes of the crater, while highland trees including Peacock Flower, Yellow-Wood, Kousso (Hagenia abyssinica), and Sweet Olive can also be found. There are also extensive stretches of pure bamboo on Oldeani Mountain, and Pencil Cedar on Makarut Mountain to the west. Dove- weeds dominate the lower slopes, while the upland woodlands contain Red Thorn Acacia and Gum Acacia that are critical for protecting the watershed. The crater basin is covered by open short grass plains with fresh and brackish water lakes, marshes, swamps, and two patches of Acacia woodland. The Lerai Forest is home to the Yellow Fever tree and Acacia, while Laiyanai Forest has Pillar Wood and Acacia Lahai. The undulating plains to the west are grass-covered with occasional Umbrella Acacia and Commiphora Africana trees. Blackthorn Acacia and Zebrawood dominate in the drier conditions beside Lake Eyasi. These extensive grasslands and bush are rich, relatively untouched by cultivation, and support very large animal populations.

Originating on Serengeti short grass plains of the southeastern Serengeti, the dwindling of the available grass is the impetus for this primal trek. The horizon fills with more than 1.5 million wildebeest, 200,000 zebra, and 500,000 Thompson’s gazelle, relentlessly tracked by Africa’s great predators. In essence, the wildebeest are taking advantage of the strongly seasonal conditions, spending the wet season on the southeastern plains of the Serengeti, and the dry season in the woodlands of northern Serengeti. The Wildebeest give birth between January and March on the short grass plains. The migration is rarely ever the same in terms of precise timing and direction, as local conditions influence grass growth. The Wildebeest may, therefore, move off the open plains earlier in some years and remain in the northern woodlands for longer in others.

The Dodo group and the team has provided us with once in a lifetime safari experience.. Collins started his service prior our trip and made sure all our variations were met. He helped us in narrowing down and gave insightful suggestions without sugar coating. They helped us in deciding our custom itinerary. The accommodations provided were absolutely awesome. Our guide Emmanuel was one of the best without him we wouldn’t have seen the wild beast river crossing and the efforts taken for that was enormous.. He was one of the best as we could see that he made sure we saw almost all the animals and birds in the park.. He had X-ray eyes as we jokingly said and he was a spotter..what he spotted while driving the game drives with his naked eyes we had to see through binoculars and go closer.. He became our friend. We had one of the best vacations we ever had. We had a hassle free experience from the beginning till the end. We are planning to go back again after few years and will definitely pick them. I have suggested their services for our near and dear ones if they are planning to go to Tanzania. It’s a great country and the Dodo groups services made our experience in the country even greater..

Sit and relax, because everything will be properly organised by Dodo Company. Collins has planned the whole program, starting from meeting at the airport, booking of all hotels, transfers, safari and other day tours. All drivers and guides were true professionals with good sense of humour and took care of us all the day long. During safari we had two types of accomodation: lodge and camping, both excellent. We saw a lot of animals: elephants, lions, cheetahs, zebras, giraffes. We were also really lucky to see the migration of gnus. After safari we visited Materuni waterfall and coffee plantations. We also spent some more time in Moshi. Then we moved to Zanzibar, where Dodo organised us a trip to a spice farm. Then by ferry back to mainland Tanzania. Everywhere we were met by Dodo guys. In Moshi we met Collins himself, he turned out to be a really friendly and welcoming person, and even helped us with money exchange and took us to the restaurant. You can fully trust Dodo Group and all your money spent are worth your unforgettable adventures in Tanzania and positive memories of your trip.

I took a package with a friend for 5 day safari trip and it was beyond incredible. We had the best Safari guide during the whole trip, Moses, which made the trip one of the best experiences we've had :)) Collin planned the whole itinerary and tickets ( I however recommend you to buy your tickets that was the only con of the whole process) but other than that everything was well planned.
