Best of Romania in 10 Days

We did a modified version of this tour that was customized to our tastes. The Romanian countryside was spectacular, especially the drive along the Transfăgărășan Highway into Transylvania from Bucharest. We saw Poenari Castle along the way and, of course, a couple of bears. For each place we stayed, we added a rest day, so we were free to roam around city squares at our leisure in Sibiu, Sighișoara, and Brașov. Our tour guide, Laurentiu Muscalu, was PHENOMENAL! His English is excellent, and his knowledge of every area we visitied with him was extraordinary. He was our guide for the entire trip, taking us from Bucharest, through winding roads to Sibiu, and then on to Sighișoara and Brașov. He has a warm, friendly personality, is a very good driver, and can be quite fun and entertaining. I could not have asked for a better guide to see this amazing country. My wife has wanted to visit Transylvania since she was a child. We did a lot of research on the culture, traditions, and history of Romania prior to our visit, so our expectations were high. This trip greatly exceeded those expectations. I highly recommend Romania, the destinations on this trip, and of course our guide Laurentiu. Thank you for a very memorable and fun-filled adventure!

Romania is a absolutely beautiful country that I would recommend visiting. Unfortunately, my tour was changed from the 7 to 10 day tour. I had really wanted to see the items on the 7 day tour. They had to cancel as I would have been the only one of the tour and moved me and fitted me in to another one.. for which I am grateful. My big challenge was our driver/tour director. He was a very aggressive, negative man, calling people not polite names as he was driving .. if he felt cut off.. he slowed down and cut them off and yelled through my passenger window at them. He had a great deal of knowledge and was a good driver but his attitude stressed me out. There were only 3 of us in our group who felt the same. The company was good to deal with and the tour is good... he did manage his time very efficiently adjusting times so that the timing of getting to different places was done efficiently.

I have just completed the Best of Romania in 10 days tour with Sue (whose comments are below) and her husband. I fully endorse her comments, it was a fantastic trip. I would add that we travelled over the Transfagarasan highway (featured on Top Gear) and which passes over the Fagaras mountains in Transylvania at 2000 metres. We saw bears on the way up. This alone was worth the trip and that was just one day! The hotels were all excellent, uniquely different and very comfortable. I highly recommend this trip.
