    We'll then make your way to the Armenian quarter. The Armenians were a vibrant and successful merchant community in the 18th and 19th centuries, thanks to their valuable role as 'middlemen' for the Ottomans. Based around the Armenian church, their mahalla (neighborhood) features a spectacular variety of architectural styles from all over Europe and the Ottoman empire, as the wealthy merchants strove to out-do each other in taste and elegance. Classical, Belle Époque, Modernist, New-Romanian, Balkanic, eclectic — this quarter boasts all these styles, including the oldest documented house in Bucharest, which you will visit.

This tour was truly great! Our guide was full of information and learned a lot about Romania history and culture. The food spots he took us too were delicious as well, and you try various types of drinks as well. I strongly recommend this tour for anyone who wants to learn more about Romania while trying tasty traditional food along the way. It’s a great way to learn more about Romania!

Alex was informative and eager to please. Wonderful introduction to area. Variety of foods, history, and architectural information. Alex is a pleasant responsive guide. May be light for experienced Romanians but worthwhile as an introduction.

This tour was without a doubt the highlight of my visit to Romania. Our guide, Bogdan, was kind, helpful and of course extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the history of his beautiful country. Getting to see and learn about the city while trying it's local food is my absolute favourite way of getting to know a place and this tour combined them beautifully. Many thanks!
