About this tour
Get in touch with the different Mahala's of Bucharest, historical neighborhoods inhabited by groups of people with the same ethnic, social and religious background. Start this tour with a lovely walk through the first Mahala: Batistei, where you visit the impressive stone church from the 18th century! In this Armenian neighborhood you will also find one of the best preserved Orthodox churches of the city. Your guide will tell you all there is to know about the Armenian population and then take you to the oldest house of Bucharest, Casa Melik. Learn everything about the secrets of this house and about the striking art collection.
Next it is time for a break and a local snack! Taste the favourite street food snack of the Romanians, the Covrig, a delightful salty snack similar to a pretzel. After this short break you continue to one of the most beautiful area's of Bucharest: Mantueleasa street, originally a mahala for rich merchants! Admire the elegant architecture that combines a variety of styles. On this street your guide will tell you about the life of the famous Romanian writer and philosopher, who loved this area. The tour ends with a visit to the breath-taking Lcoanei mahala!
