I booked with Zewditu both Danakil Depression tour (which was fine) and the Omo Valley tour (which ended up being a rip-off and a chaotic organisation).
In summary, I paid a lot of money to have a tailored tour and it ended up being a group tour so that the company can minimise their costs and maximise their profits. I didn’t visit all the places that I was meant/promised to visit and I was returned to Arba Minch way earlier than scheduled so the other people can make it to their flights.
I was moved to 3 different cars in 4 days, everyone had their itinerary and I was just tagging along to whoever was around for that leg of the trip AND THEN SENT BACK IN A PUBLIC BUS!
2 girls that were in the same car with me from day 1 left for Arba Minch at 6:30am the next morning and I was arranged to remain in Jinka and go to see Mursi in the morning of day 4 (18 Oct). At 9:30 am I was picked up by Kapo and we went to see the Mursi tribe, but at 2pm I was brought back to the hotel and was advised that a car will be ready for me to go to Arba Minch that afternoon as I still had to do the lake Chamo tour the next morning and then catch my flight from the airport in Arba Minch. I waited for 2 hours at Eyob Hotel for the driver to come and after several phone calls he arrived at 4 pm on a scooter and said that he will go to bring his car and return immediately. However, after several calls he only came back at 6pm and said that it was too late to go to Arba Minch and that he agreed to come at 5am next morning so we can leave for Arba Minch. I was almost left on the streets because he didn't have money to pay for the hotel and in the end he came back with some money, but it still wasn't enough, the hotel asked for 500 Birr more which he don't have so I was almost not allowed to sleep there without paying the extra 500 Birr.
I was left out of money so I didn't even have dinner that evening. I was out at 5am the next morning and the driver did not show up until 6:15am rather than 5am as agreed upon. This happened after I sent again Whatsapp messages to ETT numbers from the website and one of them had the courtesy to reply.
When the guy arrived at 6:15 AM he came again on a scooter and I was in shock. He said that the cannot bring me to Arba Minch because it's too much work, so he drove me and put me on a public transport bus to Arba Minch (110 Birr). The bus had a long stop in Konso and a long delay due to technical difficulties. THIS MADE ME LOSE MY FLIGHT FROM ARBA MINCH TO ADDIS as I arrived to the airport too late, even though I even had to take a tuc-tuc with my last 50 Birr! I found internet at the airport so I could contact my brother and have him send more money to me so I can book the next day flight to Addis Ababa, an overnight in Arba Minch and the rebooking costs for my flight back to London as I was too late to make it to my original flight yesterday at 13:10 so I booked it for this morning at 8:45 and made it earlier back home.
I cannot even explain how furious and dissapointed I am in my experience with them! I am asking them for 2 months now for at least a partial refund, even though it ended up costing me a fortune and killed all my nerves, but no one is bothering to take it into account once the money are with them.
