  • The Temple of Artemis, Selcuk, Turkey
    Artemis, the Greek goddess, daoghter of Zeus & Leto and twin of Apollo was the goddess of wild animals, the hunt and child birth. She was widely worshipped in the Greek wolrd but her most famous cult site was the Temple of Artemis at Ephesus, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. The temple was destroyed on July 21 356 BC in an act of arson committed by Herostratus. According to the story that very same night, Alexander the Great was born. A noble Ephesian remarked that Artemis was too busy with Alexander's delivery to save her burning temple. Alexander later offered to pay for the Temple's rebuilding, but the Ephesians refused. Eventually, the temple was restored after Alexander's death in 323 BC. This reconstruction was itself destroyed during a raid by the Goths Then it was rebuilt but after thousands of years today not much left to see from the Artemision. Will pay a visit to imagine how magnificent the temple was once.

Our tour guide was incredible! I was completely blown away at how much information and knowledge he had and he made the whole experience so educational and enjoyable. From pick up to drop off every part of this your was seamless and easy! This is a MUST do when in Turkey.

This tour is a scam. You pay $96 for nothing. The tour guide tells you really little about the places and repeats himself again and again. The two hours in ephesos is a joke and they don’t tell you that this tour doesn’t include the entry to see the 13 royal palaces(which is one of the main things to see in ephesos). We did it running and skipping parts of it. The tour guide doesn’t wait for anyone when he starts to speak about the history. The temple of artemis is just a column in the middle of an abandoned yard so you don’t need more than 10 min to visit it. They will take you to their friends shops to sell you things that are priced 10 times the normal price. Do not fall for this tour or any other. Rent a car or take bus and just get the audio guide once you are there. That will allow you to really enjoy the experience and get real details from the place.
