Departing from downtown Anchorage, the Coastal Classic Train travels south along the rugged coastline of Turnagain Arm, with dramatic views of the Chugach Mountains plunging directly to the sea. At the end of Turnagain Arm, the tracks veer away from the road system into the backcountry wilderness – and what many consider to be the most scenic stretch of the Alaska Railroad, accessible only by train. Watch for views of massive glaciers, steep river canyons, and cascading waterfalls. The train arrives to Seward at 1115 am, allowing plenty of time to explore this charming port town – or opt to take a marine wildlife & glacier day cruise into the nearby Kenai Fjords.

Departure Point

Anchorage Depot, 411 W 1st Ave, Anchorage, AK 99501, USA Check-in one hour prior to the scheduled departure time to receive boarding passes. Check baggage at the outside Baggage tent before proceeding into the Depot.

    Very disappointing! after being on the train for 1 1/2 hours it was dark. We had the gold star service and you were limited to one item on the menu and dessert was about two bites. I wish I had taken a picture to show just how small it was.

    Everything was excellent and met or exceeded expectations, except the boarding process. To board you wait in line to drop off bags and again to pick up boarding passes which I am fine with. After picking up boarding passes though you stand shoulder to shoulder with 200+ new friends inside the depot so bring your mask! We paid extra for gold star service and it was worth it to us. Beautiful views out the top of the train car, a selection of nice meals for breakfast, and all the drinks (yes even alcohol for those early starters) you want. This immediately put us in full vacation mode. If you are cruising out of Seward I highly recommend starting with an Alaska Railroad trip.

    Glaciers and natural wildlife I love it ,I recommend don't miss train traveling I sure u will be love it ,on next summer we plan to come again. With my wife ,and friends couples
