Albufera means nature, gastronomy, birdwatching, culture and history. Today we will discover the waterland were the famous Valencian rice is grown for paella and we will watch local fauna and flora. The Park was declared in 1986 and since then are thousands visitors who decide to visit every year. During the tour we will visit the bird observatory, where is possible (depends on the year time) to see flamingos, herons, storks or different kind of ducks. Then you will learn about the rice and the local culture and traditions embarking on a boat to do a ride on the lagoon and pass by some rice fields. We can see some typical "Barracas" (local farmers building) and the we Will finish on a tablet sharing the most popular Dish in Valencia and Spain, Paella (meal included).

    We will start the day with a panoramic of the rice fields. We will stop to see them, talk about the history and the Albufera traditions. Then move to the visitor center to do some birdwatching. Herons, Flamingos, different kind of ducks and local flora. Then enjoy a boat tour and a paella lunch in a traditional restaurant!

It was a pleasant experience and a very varied excursion combining getting to know the Albufera area (including an enjoyable boat ride on the lake among reeds), planned bird watching at the visitor's centre but also spontaneous bird watching when the occasion arose on the way, plus a delightful meal away from tourist traps in an authentic restaurant. David was very nice and we had interesting conversation with him. It was a stress-free and delightful day.

Wij zijn 1 dag naar Albufera geweest vanuit Valencia-stad. Totaal niet de moeite waard. Met fiets moeilijk te bereiken, natuur is kaal en dor en niets bijzonders. Boottochtje gaat gewoon midden over het meer waar verder echt niets te zien is. En het dorpje wat door sommige sites beschreven wordt als parel is een sfeerloos dorpje met alleen maar restaurants. Wandelroutes ook niet veel soeps. En ik ben normaal gesproken echt een natuurmens. Zou er echt geen dag aan spenderen, zonde van je tijd.

David was excellent and provided a very comfortable and enjoyable experience. The albufera is nice, the bird observatory and path to it was beautiful and the paella delicious.
