We had a bit of custom tour this day with David, for my request. First we used the cable car system of La Paz, and traveled thru the yellow and green line. It was marvellous to travel with this unique, very well engineered transportation method, well 'above the mountains'. Meanwhile, David told stories and shared some special info on the country. Still the other passengers (while possibly going to work via the same, shared
cabin), listened!
Then we went to the Titicaca lake, but before looked at some murals and remembered, visited some sites to see, how the city was formed by the landslides and the government reaction.
Then we had a delicious lunch on the floating restaurant of the Titicaca lake - restaurant Sol Andes. I don't really eat seafood, but now it was a lucky exception, since the fresh fish just 'came out' from the lake.
Not long after we visited the famous Esteban family. They told stories, showed pictures about their contribution to Dr. Heyerdahl, while building a boat (Kon Tiki). They showed then some handmade souveniers, which are nice and not overpriced.
The final stop was Pariti island and its few residents. The island is more than peaceful, and the museum is a must visit there, just as the old, for now (unfortunately) mostly abandoned buildings.
The route to there was superb too, we were taken there on a boat, by Mr. Esteban.
All of all, it was a big adventure, so not a surprise that all of us just fell asleep back to the hotel, except our skilled driver.
