In spite of all of the warnings, we thought we'd be OK driving the AMALFI coast. After all, we'd lived in Rome and gone back many times. WRONG! Besides being very difficult in a small car and impossible in a true 4 passenger car, neither the driver not the navigator have any time to look away from the road or map. So Plan B was hire a private tour that picked us up on the Sorrento coast (where we left the car) and took us to Positano, Ravello and Amalfi and left us at our hotel in Amalfi. Stayed two nights in Amalfi and then hired this driver to drive us straight back over the mountain to our cars on the Amalfi coast. Worked out great!
