Experience Jordan Group Tour

We had only two days, and Jordan has so much to see! Experience Jordan provided the guidance and the expertise to put a custom tour together for us. Every aspect of our time was well-managed and more than accommodating. We could never have done it without Raisa's coordination. Our driver in Jordan, Yassar, was kind, helpful, and gracious.

I went to Jordan to see one of my former foreign exchange students get married! I stayed at her home the first 6 days in Jordan and when she and her husband left on their honeymoon, that is when I began my 6 day Jordan experience. It was supposed to be along with my daughter, but her workplace would not allow her to come so it was just me and Ali, my driver in a nice air conditioned car and a couple guides along the way. We first went to Ajloun Forest Reserve and spent the night there and I hiked around for a couple hours in the morning before we drove on toward Petra. On the way there we stopped at Mt Nebo for a self guided tour, then to Madaba to view the map. Instead of Kerak castle, we went to a castle with a similar history and I spent some time walking around the site. That night I stayed in Petra and the following day had a guide take me through The Siq and a bit further into the site discussing the history of the area. That took about 2 hours. Then I was on my own to discover more of Petra. It was about 110F out that day so I went to the tombs in the area and took a long lunch break before going back to Ali. The following morning Ali drove me to Wadi Rum. When you get there, the bedoin group takes over. I had an afternoon jeep ride to several sites in Wadi Run, an amazing local meal made in a hay hole and the following morning before leaving there was a camel ride to watch the sunrise. Spectacular! Now back to Ali who drove me to the Dead Sea by way of Accaba and I had the day to float and go to the spa. There was also a stop at a local factory to watch the mosaic work being done and that was quite interesting.

Favorite part of my experience?? Our tour guide, Ahlam!! I would not have completed the hike to Jebel Burdah rock bridge without her supreme guidance and complete confidence! Among the numerous memories I brought home from Jordan, this is the one that shines brightest. Again, it wouldn’t have been possible without the trust I had in Ahlam’s ability. Her confidence is inspiring! Also, her love and knowledge of the natural wonders of Jordan made our experience not only educational, but relational. I felt that I made a friend in Jordan! As awesome as everything we did in Jordan was (canyoneering, Dana nature preserve, Little Petra hike to Petra, Petra!!, Wadi Rum!!, Amman, Jerash, Ajloun Castle, cooking class…), it was the people of Jordan, like Ahlam, who made the visit so wonderful!!
