The Red Light District of Amsterdam is a historic neighborhood in the city center. Granted, the sex workers, the sex shows and coffee shops are the big draw here, especially at night. This museum is one of the few that is open past sunset. The highlight of the museum is listening to the stories of the sex workers and demystifying that line of work to a good degree. And of course you get to walk behind a window as well. It is not a museum for kids, but it’s worth going to once if you visit Amsterdam multiple times. Also, if you go here, you can also get a discounted ticket to Ripley’s Believe it or Not for about €12.50 if I recall correctly. The folks at this museum will let you pick your date and time to go to Ripley’s as well.

This Museum provided a surprisingly educational view of a hidden world. It was full of facts and figures about prostitution, and how it is operated legally in Amsterdam. It shared personal stories from former prostitutes that made the experience even more compelling. Highly recommend!

We really enjoyed this tour and found it so insightful and informative. I left with a different perspective on the red light district and the history of the area. If you are curious at all about the red light district or even find it somewhat intriguing, I highly recommend it.
