    The aurora borealis is one of the most amazing natural wonders this world has to offer.  Join us on a quest to view and photograph the northern lights in and around the Anchorage area.  We will use our luxury tour vehicle as a base camp as well as a state of the art portable winter shelter complete with heater, chairs, hot drinks and snacks.  We use modern technology to forecast both the space and earth weather each night.  The tour only operates on nights that have a reasonable expectation for the lights to be visible.  While we cannot guarantee you will see the aurora, if we do operate the tour we have over a 90% success rate of seeing the northern lights. You only pay if we operate the tour.  This tour is designed for anyone who has viewing the northern lights on their bucket list including both sightseers and serious photographers.  Aurora photography instruction as well as Aurora portraits are provided.  Tours generally depart at 9 pm and return at 3 am.

  • For a full refund, cancel at least 24 hours before the scheduled departure time.
  • If you cancel less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time, the amount you paid will not be refunded.
  • Any changes made less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time will not be accepted.
  • Cut-off times are based on the experience’s local time.
  • This experience requires good weather. If it’s canceled due to poor weather, you’ll be offered a different date or a full refund.

We did the Anchorage Northern Lights tour. We loved it. Joe was our guide, and he was great. We were picked up at 8pm, and drove out Glenn Highway to a remote location with no cloud cover. It was very cold but the aurora was beautiful. Joe took amazing photos of the aurora and our family. Seeing the Northern Lights was the #1 reason for our visit to Alaska in December, and it did not disappoint!

We went on the Northern Lights tour last night and it was AMAZING! The lights put on a good show for us. We were also able to see the Milky Way Galaxy and tons of stars and constellations! Mike our tour guide was phenomenal. He was super informative and enthusiastic. Highly recommend!!

We set out after having verbal confirmation we wanted to go on the tour, after having great communication from the office prior to the trip in regards to the chance of seeing the northern lights. Being a physics teacher I understood a lot of the terminology prior to going on the tour and Mike who was our tour guide gave a very knowledgable account of the Northern Lights. I would recommend doing your own research especially in regards to chances and some of the background knowledge of the lights- it will enhance your experience and understanding of what your getting in to. We drove about 2.5 hours to the pitch black saw 3 moose along the way. Mike answered all questions I had and was able to give great answers! On arrival to the site we had time to get geared up- layers layers layers is my advice! AND We saw the northern lights, beautiful clear night with zero cloud and little to no moonlight. People need to remember our eyes are actually very poor at receiving light- if you have a DSLR camera- its worth taking- Mike will even help you set it up to optimize capturing the lights. We took lots of pictures- which were a lot of fun- be imaginative with them! The group I was with got cold and wanted to head back- remember you have to see the lights in a very very very dark setting so it was a long evening/night... make the most of your time seeing this phenomenon- if you are lucky enough! I would have stayed out for hours more. If your luck is in and you a new visitor to AK I would recommend this! We drove the time back and most people slept me and Mike chatted a lot Mike and the team THANK YOU!
