An almost obligatory excursion when you travel to Calafate. A nice catamaran takes you to the side of the glacier while you observe those large masses of ice that constitute the Perito Moreno glacier.
Then the most interesting part begins, which is trekking through the ice above the glacier. They put special shoes on you for walking on ice called crampons and you slowly advance along an absolutely unique path. The guides are generally young people, very well trained, who tell you about the geographical characteristics of the place. It also has the benefit of being a nice physical exercise surrounded by the magnificent mass of ice and a very slick terrain that is not snow!!!
Oh, and as a final touch, the excursion closes with a toast of whiskey on the rock (literally, with ice from the glacier).
Fun and a more physical alternative to the typical walk along the catwalks.
And if you're lucky, you may see some collapse on the boat ride, but that is more unusual.
