  • Saghmosavank Monastery, Artashavan, Armenia
    5 km far from Hovhanavank monastery, on the edge of Kasakh river canyon, in the 13th century Vachutian dukes built Saghmosavank monastery. The main church is adjacent to the scriptorium, where many manuscripts have been produced during centuries. Saghmosavank underwent the devastating influence of the earthquake in 1988. The reconstruction, completed in 2000, returned the church its beauty and glory.

    Hovhannavank monastery bears the name of John the Baptist. The oldest church here is the one-naved basilica, built in the 5th century. In the 13th century, under the patronage of Vachutian dukes, new buildings were added. The portal of the main church, which is embellished with evangelical motifs, is of great interest.

Exceptional trip led by Meline Sahakyan whose dynamic personality and knowledge added to our better understanding of our language, church and nation’s beginnings, with the interaction of the relative existing powers to nurture the identity that forms the roots of Armenia as a country, people snd identity. Indeed very pleasant and educational tour with very special guide mrs. Marina and her driver Arun. We spent almoust a perfect day ( Ararat was cloudy ????) but the wine degustation, lunch and all the sites explained beyond the tour guide is supposed to do...Simply great. Many thanks to the wonderful guide Marina for the tour! It is nice when a man loves his camp, his work and is happy to share with other exciting legends and historical traditions of his country. If we are in Armenia again, we will definitely take another excursion from your company! Thanks also to driver Karen for the soft ride. Usually, I get a bit bogged down in transport, but then it went perfectly)
